We changed our team name (and then changed it again)

At the end of 2024, we formed our "Enterprise Markerting" team. Initially, it was a team of one. We could it "Enterprise" Marketing, to distinguish from our "Self-serve" growth function. Enterprise was responsible for running campaigns to generate pipeline for our sales team. Our self-serve growth function was responsible for running campaigns to drive, well, self-serve signups. In 2025, our sales function matured to create segmentation of our accounts and the AEs serving them. | Segment | Definition | |------------|------------| | Corporate | Under 200 | | Mid Market | 200–2,000 | | Enterprise | 2,000–10,000 | | Strategic | 10K+ | With "Enterprise Marketing" now responsible for generating pipeline across 4 segments, one of which is named "Enterprise", it quickly became confusing whether "Enterprise" was referring to our B2B as a whole or the 2,000-10,000 segment. We renamed the team to "Sales-led Marketing" to better align it with the way that we think about customer types: 1.Self-serve: A customer who signs up for a paid plan directly on our website 2. Sales-led: A customer who speaks to our sales team and signs a contract Problem solved, right? Wrong. It was quickly pointed out to me that "Sales-led Marketing" is both a mouthful and sounds like you are referring to marketing activities driven by the sales team. So then we renamed to "B2B Marketing" and I hope that it is the last of that.
